As 2024 comes to an end, SOLV Energy looks back at a year of generating good energy in our communities nationwide. Through volunteering, donations, school transformations, conferences, scholarship opportunities and more, our employees, project teams, and partners built relationships and made memories with the people our projects serve and the next generation of leaders. Here are some of the projects and initiatives we’re proud of.

Generating Good Energy

We powered up 26 student homes in the Navajo Nation through Skip the Grid, a collaboration with Nextracker, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO) and Heart of America. We worked with the Central Consolidated School District near SOLV Energy’s San Juan jobsite in Shiprock, New Mexico, to identify students who lived without power in their homes. All 26 student homes were outfitted with (4) 100-watt panels, 1000-hour battery, and two lights— enough to power computers, tablets or a small refrigerator!

WRISE Leadership Forum

Five SOLV employees attended this year’s Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) Leadership Forum in Washington DC. SOLV Senior Project Engineer, Evelyn Chavez, spoke on a panel titled “It’s Ok If Your First Job Isn’t Perfect and Other Hard Truths for Young Professionals.”

School Transformations and Supply Donations

Abbott Independent School District (ISD) and Penelope ISD —local to our Ash Creek and Stillhouse jobsites in Texas—received school supplies and school transformations led by SOLV employees and client partners. Together with Primergy and Heart of America, employee-volunteers renovated parts of the school and grounds. The project includes a Good Energy cart (a Good Energy corner for Penelope ISD) where they can learn about renewable energy, job opportunities at SOLV Energy and Primergy, and our solar projects nearby.

Check out this video recap on Abbott’s school transformation.

Near our offices, SOLV employees in Bend volunteered for the Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) Book Drive, a local organization that pairs adults with early readers to give one hour of 1:1 time to kids, helping to grow their love for reading. The Raleigh office team hosted their own Back-2-School Drive to support Rogers-Herr Middle School.

Good Energy Allies

Good Energy Allies serve as SOLV’s eyes and ears across the company to help spread the word on giving events, initiatives, and scholarships. A diverse group of 13 teammates worked in the field, in our offices and remotely with our Community Relations team to encourage their teammates to give back to their communities through causes they care about.

Powering Up Through Education

Our second annual PowerUp! Scholarship awarded $1,500 to six high-school seniors who want to use their education to help create a more sustainable future, including one scholarship reserved for an Indigenous student. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements on our third annual scholarship with a new panel of judges from industry partner companies.

Creating Our Ripple Effect

This year, SOLV Energy employees logged a total of 1,730 volunteer hours and $56,000 in donations to 190+ charities on our employee giving platform, the Ripple Effect! SOLV’s employee giving program offers 1-to-1 matching on donations made to eligible nonprofits and $25 per volunteer hour year-round.

Thank you to our team and partners who made this good energy impact possible – we look forward to many more projects to come!
